Jason Gish

After a careful search, Jason came to serve Canyon Creek in February 2005. He serves as our Minister of Education and Administration.

Jason first served on church staff at the First Baptist Church of nearby Troy, TX
as a part-time youth minister. In 1996, Jason and his wife, Shanon, moved to Fort Worth where Jason started studying for his Master of Divinity as Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While at seminary, the Lord led Jason to serve as a full-time youth and education minister at Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point, Texas. In 1999, Jason and Shanon moved to Waco, Texas with their baby boy, Ian. While in Waco, Jason was able to complete his Master of Divinity. It was also during this time, that Shanon discovered her passion for ESL ministry. After living in Waco for nearly two years, Second Baptist Church of Marion, IL called Jason to serve as Minister of Education and Children. After serving in Illinois for three years, Jason, Shanon, Ian and Isaac moved back to Texas so Jason could pursue his PhD in New Testament Studies at Southwestern Seminary.

The Gish family currently lives in Morgan’s Point, Texas. Jason is still studying for his PhD while he serves on staff at Canyon Creek. Shanon is a teacher in a local public school. Ian is in 4th grade and Isaac is in 1st grade at the same school where Shanon teaches.

Here is a personal statement from Jason:

God has been amazing to us. He has lead us to many places we never thought we’d be. I am enjoying my studies at Southwestern so much and I look forward to serving him through teaching ministry in the coming years. But I am also loving serving here at Canyon Creek. It has been a joy to get to know these wonderful people. Our pastor has such a heart for both the Christians who are already at Canyon Creek and the non-believers who need to be reached by Canyon Creek. All the staff have been wonderful to work with and I cannot imagine a better place to serve the Lord.

For Jason and Shanon, this is not the first time they’ve been at Canyon Creek. They met as college students at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. It just so happens that they both joined CCBC on the same day, October 1, 1989. Eventually, Jason and Shanon became good friends as Jason was an adopted college student by Shanon’s parents. By their junior year, Jason and Shanon were dating. By their senior year, they were engaged. And about one month after they graduated UMHB, they were married in the CCBC sanctuary. God has brought Jason and Shanon back to their college roots. They were once blessed by the ministries of Canyon Creek and now seek to bless others through them.
