Rev. Jason Gish -- Minister of Education and Administration

Jason Gish joined the ministerial staff at Canyon Creek Baptist Church in February of 2005. Since that time, he has served in ties. Both originally, as well as since Dr. Ronnie Hood became pastor, Jason has been the Minister of Education and Administration. In addition, when the previous pastor, Dr. Trey Turner, left the church in order to pursue mission work in Wisconsin, Jason agreed to serve as interim pastor. Concerning wearing two hats, Jason says, “I am willing to follow the Lord wherever he leads and do whatever meets the needs of the people at Canyon Creek.”

Other than with his God, Jason’s most important relationships are with his family. Shanon and Jason met at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1989. They both attended Canyon Creek as college students and eventually married in the church upon graduating in 1993. The couple has two sons---Ian Russell (1999) and Isaac Caden (2002)---who bring them immense joy and pride. They are happy to see their children grow up in the Lord with a body of believers like Canyon Creek.

Gish Family

Jason has served in various ministry positions---youth, children, education, and administration---in several locations (Troy and Pilot Point, TX, and Marion, IL). In his 14 years of ministry experience and his 23 years of walking with the Lord, Jason‘s most exhilarating experiences revolve around seeing people crossing the line of faith and becoming followers of the Lord Jesus. Nearly as satisfying for him is walking alongside believers, helping them blossom as a child of God. Some of his favorite moments in church life consist of ministering alongside his own family, whether in teaching, cleaning, painting, feeding, or the like.

Jason’s favorite Scripture is Psalm 107:4-8, which says,

Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.  Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.
