What is a Podcast?

A friend of mine once desribed podcasting saying, “it’s kinda like TiVo for our pastor’s sermons…”

According to [Weblogs.com](http://audio.weblogs.com/faq.html):

Podcasting is a new way to create and listen to radio.

[A since removed Wikipedia article] describes, “Podcasting is a way of publishing files to a website that allows users to subscribe to the site and receive new files as they are posted. Most podcasts are spoken word audio created by individuals, often on a particular theme such as technology or movies. Because new files are downloaded automatically by subscribers, podcasting allows individuals to have a self-published, syndicated radio show.”

In our case, the theme is Trey’s Sermons. :-)

Wikipedia has a [list of podcatchers](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting#Applications) (an application used to listen to a podcast). Using any of these applications, you can hear Trey’s sermon whenever you want!

Our podcast is included in our site’s [RSS feed](/help/rss), and in the [iTunes Store](http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=187767863).
