Mapping New Testament Social Networks

I can always see things better when they’re drawn out. I find myself using the white-board all the time at work for that very reason. Things just become clearer.

Today I saw that the folks over at the ESV seem to feel the same way.

Bible Names

They have a very nice, interactive map of relationships between people in the New Testament. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great start and very informative. (That’s why there are some reference to Old Testament names, too.) I particularly like the circle graph, because you can click and drag on a circle and move things around to see them better. It actually sounds more complicated than it is. You really have to give this a try!

They also have a diagram of persons who are mentioned together in the NT. (They call it a tree diagram, but that really doesn’t mean much to me…) Nonetheless, it sill looks very cool.

(The folks at ThinkChristian.net saw this, too, and that reminded me to share it with you :-) )
